It’s not every day you’ll meet a young child like Abby who suffers from acute lymphatic leukemia.
At just four-years-old she’s had to suffer through many horrors most adults already fear going through, and the outcome has been devastating. She now spends most – if not all – of her time at the Melodies Center for Childhood Cancers in New York, bravely fighting for a better chance to actually live the life she’s been given with a smile on her face. It wasn’t long that she started to like her favorite nurse, Matt Hickling, whom she had to visit every day for her series of shots.
Eventually she grew to like him so much she decided she wanted to marry him, so she devised a plan to put a ring on his finger the next time she saw him. Shortly beforehand she ended up telling her mother about the idea, who ended up telling Matt and the rest of the staff! They immediately came up with the idea to have a little “wedding ceremony” the very next day, complete with rose petals and all.
It’s things like this that really show you what the best of humanity has to offer, something we all need to see a little more of these days.
